Projects
Briquettes
This is a program that was introduced in our community so after learning from our neighboring communities how they were reusing charcoal dust to produce a bi-product called briquette.
We soon copied from them (good copying) and started training our own members on how they are produced. We taught them the good intentions of it and the motive behind its production.
Soon after, the group members were able to learn and reproduce them on a large scale.
The major aim of this project was to generate extra income for the vulnerable members so they were able to put food at table for their families.
Briquettes still need much more support from donors as they can cause much more desirable effect on our members.
Remember briquettes are key to environmental conservation
Sustainable Agriculture
Given the fact that Agriculture is a backbone for our Country and the main source of livelihood for most rural communities RUGLI serves, we aim at improving agriculture production for food and income security through equipping farmers with knowledge and skills on the best agronomic practices, extension service provision and increasing access to quality seeds to improve crop yields.
There is also promotion of sustainable use of natural resources such as soil, water, forests and others.
Reminder: Agriculture is the backbone of our country.
Community Health
Our goal is to improve and promote quality health services accessible to vulnerable communities for household resilience and self-reliance.
We intend to achieve this through increasing the level of knowledge on health and health service delivery among hard-to-reach communities to address the challenge of poor health seeking behavior that is common among our rural communities.
Additionally, in collaboration with the government health facilities, we provide comprehensive/integrated community based Health Care for hard to reach communities through mobile clinics. We also conduct growth monitoring for children under five years though with special focus on immunization and nutrition based on the poor attitudes towards immunization and high cases of malnutrition registered in some of the communities served.
Remember: Prevention is better than Cure and reduces on costly hospital visits.
HIV/AIDs, Malaria and water-borne diseases awareness program.
The following is what we do under this programme;
- Raising awareness on HIV/AIDs
- Advocacy for improved services rights for people living with HIV/AIDs
- Creating awareness on infant, reproductive and maternal health.
- Advocacy for health services to persons living with HIV.
Remember: Not to stigmatize your brother and sisters living with HIV.
Credit and Saving scheme
RUGLI has a micro business revolving fund scheme from which the rural communities especially the women acquire start-up capital for their agricultural income generating projects.
The loans are provided in groups although each member in the group gets it as an individual.
In the group, each member co-guarantees the other to be able to pay promptly.
The loans are paid back with a small interest to help other needy families to benefit from the same scheme.
To date, many of our farmers have established viable businesses like poultry rearing, animal husbandry, extensive vegetable growing among others.
Note: No one wants to live in poverty

Environmental conservation
RUGLI is working on tree nurseries and briquette fuel (charcoal alternative) to environmental conservation and empower women and the youth in the communities and areas of operation. This will enormously strengthen RUGLI further more and enable it to perform its board activities of outreach to many communities within the region as scheduled by the management. RUGLI has been able to support institutions and communities to plant over 70,000 tree seedlings of different species as a way to enhance community and hilly ecosystems. Resilience and adaptive capacity to climate change. This has been achieved through partnerships and support from Government, NFA, NEMA and the lower local government.
Save the planet by planting more trees right now. Act now!
